SACR works to promote the full implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of
the Child in Scotland.

Our Objectives:
1. To promote the importance of children and young people’s rights  in Scotland;

2.  To highlight issues of concern to policy makers, the media and the general public, and to disseminate information on the UNCRC, including UN Committee reports on the progress of UK governments in implementing the UNCRC;

3. To provide a focal point for NGOs in Scotland on child rights issues;

4. To establish links with statutory agencies and others to ensure the monitoring  and promotion of the full implementation of the Convention in Scotland through policy and legislative mechanisms and good practice.

Some of our achievements include:
1. Submitting Scottish NGO Alternative Reports and giving evidence to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

2. Engaging NGOs in Scotland with the UNCRC reporting process and raising the profile of the Convention.

3. Setting out  the case for a Children’s Commissioner to be established in Scotland in a
comprehensive report.

4. Maintaining links with Children’s Rights Alliances in the UK and Europe.

5. Developing a resource pack for involving children and young people in the recruitment of staff.
